We are Vasyl Rakivnenko and Volodymyr Zhukov. We’re both from Ukraine, but we now live in the US, Bay Area. We went to university together in Kharkiv in 2004-2007, so have known each other for many years. Although after graduation we lived in different locations and worked on different projects, the war in Ukraine reunited us in the same place, now in 2022.

IngestAI began as an idea for the capstone project of the Berkeley Professional Certificate in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence program, where Vasyl Rakivnenko was enrolled in 2022. At the same time, the capstone project overlapped with Vasyl and Volodymyr’s willingness to make Generative AI more accessible in countries like Ukraine, where it wasn not officially available at the end of 2022. Within just two weeks of its private launch, IngestAI gained over 1,300 active users, growing almost 2X every week.
